Nassau County
Where it is. Manhasset is on Long Island’s North Shore, along Manhasset Bay, between Great Neck and Port Washington. The LIRR Port Washington branch stops at Manhasset and Plandome stations and runs directly to Penn Station and Grand Central Madison.
Everyday life. Plandome Road is the local main street for restaurants and cafés, and Northern Boulevard’s Miracle Mile, home to the Americana Manhasset, has high-end shopping.
The homes. Most homes are detached single-family houses, about 82 percent, with about one in ten attached townhouses and a small number of condos and co-ops near the station. About nine in ten homes are owner-occupied.
Standouts. The area takes in the villages of Plandome, Plandome Heights, Plandome Manor and Munsey Park, and parts of Flower Hill. Leeds Pond Preserve, home to the Science Museum of Long Island, sits on the bay, and Whitney Pond Park is on Northern Boulevard.
